Renewing Your Mind

Renewing Your Mind

We have just finished celebrating Thanksgiving — a time for gathering together as a family, making your favorite dishes to accompany that delicious turkey, and for giving God thanks for things big and small.

Then, in comes the Christmas rush! Before people even finish digesting their turkey dinner, they rush to stores and wait in long lines for their special Black Friday deals.

This got me thinking.... The world's culture wants to dictate how you live, what you wear and even how you think. The world is not interested in your opinions, values or beliefs. Its drive is money, power and control. But, the Bible clearly warns us about this!

“And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].”
Romans 12:2 AMP

As we are in Christ, we have a responsibility to allow the Word of God to change our way of thinking. We are to be maturing and growing in the things of God. We should become more aware of Satan's strategies and the underlying effect they have on us. I'm not saying gift giving and all we celebrate are wrong, but that we must be watchful about where the influence is coming from.

Let us make sure, as we are coming to the end of another year, that we each can reflect back and see change, growth and maturity as we live our lives for Christ; always remembering that we are still Women Under His Construction!
