Marching Forward

We are already entering the third month of a new year! Time is moving quickly, which makes me think about keeping pace. There are still nine more months to go in this year and much work to do for the Lord. We don't want to lose momentum, right?

The word march is defined as “to walk with regular and measured tread, as soldiers on parade; to advance in step in an organized body.” This makes me think about being a part of an army and how I must keep rank with my unit. Today, it is important to see that we are not lone rangers but part of a much bigger unit — The Army of the Lord! God gives orders and we must execute them. Unity, like-mindedness, submission, obedience, and commitment are vitally important. These can be the deciding factor between winning and losing the battle.

“But it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawning of the day, and marched around the city seven times in the same manner. On that day only they marched around the city seven times. And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: “Shout, for the Lord has given you the city! So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.” Joshua 6:15–16, 20 NKJV

Only after following their marching orders were they able to see the victory that was waiting for them. But had someone stopped marching, got out of line or refused to comply fully with the orders given, the whole unit (God’s people) would not have experienced their victory.

We too are part of a body of believers, a church family, in which every individual is important. This is why we must all do our part, stay united, be watchful, work together, be faithful, standing guard, and doing whatever is necessary to complete our marching orders.

There is still much work to do and many battles to win. Remain focused, follow instructions, stay fully armed.

“And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” 1 Chronicles 14:15 NKJV

We are not alone. God has already gone before us and given us the victory! March! March! March!
