Labor of Love
Love: to have a strong liking for; take great pleasure in
If you ask yourself what you love, what are some things you have a strong liking for, or find great pleasure in? Here are just a few that came to my mind, but you can add your own:
work
travel
sports
hobbies
reading
writing
family
food
relaxation
fellowship
There is nothing wrong with anything listed above but let us view them from a different perspective.
The Bible says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires; that on which your life centers] will be also.” Matthew 6:21 AMP
Paul said, “Everything is permissible for me, but not all things are beneficial. Everything is permissible for me, but I will not be enslaved by anything [and brought under its power, allowing it to control me].” 1 Corinthians 6:12 AMP
We can love the things on our list, but as we labor it is important to keep things in proper perspective. You and I know that we can become overwhelmed, over-dedicated and over-driven about the things we love.
Jesus said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ Matthew 22:37 AMP
So, when we keep Jesus at the forefront of our heart and mind, He will help us keep everything in proper order and perspective.
“Instead, desire first and foremost God’s kingdom and God’s righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33 CEB
The benefit of serving and loving God is that He helps us to live in harmony and balance with His will and His Word!
Enjoy all that you love while you live for Him!
